Start with the whole setup
Display screen equipment (DSE) means more than the screen. The desk, seating, equipment, working environment and tasks all matter. A useful assessment turns observations into clear follow-up actions.
Tell Pam what you need
- The number and location of workstations.
- Whether people work in the office, at home or across both.
- Any recent moves, equipment changes or reported difficulties.
- Existing assessment records and actions still outstanding.
- Whether furniture advice and space planning are also required.
Confirm the assessment scope, delivery arrangements and fees directly with Pam. The free planning and design offer does not mean a DSE assessment is automatically free.
Use official guidance as your reference
HSE explains when workstation assessments are needed and what they should cover. Read HSE’s workstation assessment guidance and its home-working guidance for the current official advice. The HSE guidance relates to Great Britain; requirements for other jurisdictions should be checked separately.
Follow through on the findings
Keep a record of agreed actions, who is responsible and when they will be reviewed. Some actions may involve adjustments or changes to working arrangements; others may involve furniture. Do not assume every assessment requires a new chair or desk.
Connect assessment and design
When changing a workspace, discuss assessment requirements early so the furniture plan and individual needs can be considered together. Read our practical DSE starting guide before getting in touch.
